The 501st Legion wishes everyone everywhere a wonderful holiday season and happy new year! May all of your wishes come true and may 2012 be the best year ever for you and your family.
During the hustle and bustle of the holiday weekend, please take a moment to remember service members of all nations, who are serving thousands of miles away from their families.

In an exciting development for Star Wars fans, Rancho Obi Wan, the largest privately-held collection of all things Star Wars, has become a State of California Non-Profit Corporation who's purpose is to serve the public through the collection, conservation, and interpretation of Star Wars memorabalia. Started in 1977 by 501st Legion Honorary Member Steve Sansweet, the President and Cheif Executive Officer of Rancho Obi Wan Inc., the collection began when Mr. Sansweet assembled what was available before the May 25th opening date, from pre-release toys to screen-used props. Over time the collection grew to its' currently estimated 200,000 items, all housed in a modern, 9,000 square foot climate-controlled museum.
The museum is not open to the public, but private tours and events hosted by Steve Sansweet are available to members and supporters of Rancho Obi Wan.

The Romanian Outpost hosted its first ever multi-member 501st event earlier this month thanks to great support from the Hungarian Outpost. Legion members from Hungary embarked on their first international troop via a 16 hour journey to join the lone Romanian Outpost member at the Edelweiss Charity Ball, which took place Bucharest, Romania. The Ball was held to support the Hospice in Romania, which amongst other endeavors, facilitates the home care teams of doctors and nurses that undertake approximately 10,000 home care visits a year.
Here is a news report on the event.
Job well done Romanian and Hungarian Outposts!

This week families across the United States will travel to be with their distant family and friends for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Thanksgiving means many different things to different people, but for us all it is a time that we can be thankful for the people who have come into our lives and what we have. While you travel the lanes and airways this season to gather with your friends and family, take a moment to remember the tens of thousands of deployed service members worldwide, serving their home nations far from home.
During the day you may have local 501st Legion Garrisons participating in special events, from marching in Thanksgiving Day parades, to helping to serve hot meals to those less fortunate. Check with your local 501st unit to see if an event is planned.
